Learn how to make Restaurant Style healthy and tasty Dal khichdi with our chef Seema Gadh.<br /><br />An elaborate yet easy khichdi that makes a wholesome and delicious meal, the Dal Khichdi is made of moong dal and rice combined with not just whole spices but also onions, garlic, and tomatoes. This imparts a tangy twist to the khichdi making it holistic in terms of taste too. It can be served with ghee, papad, and pickle. <br />The national food of India is super healthy, protein-packed and nourishing.<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />(Serves 2)<br /><br />- 1/2 cup Rice<br />- 1/2 cup Yellow Lentils<br />- Water (for soaking rice & dal)<br />- Ghee<br />- 1 tsp Cumin seeds<br />- 1 Bay leaf<br />- 2 Cinnamon Sticks<br />- Whole black peppers<br />- 2 tsp Ginger(chopped)<br />- 2 tsp Garlic(chopped)<br />- 2 Onions (chopped)<br />- 2 Tomatoes (chopped)<br />- Salt (as required)<br />- Turmeric powder<br />- 4 cups of water<br />- Carrot(grated)<br />- Coriander Leaves(chopped)<br /><br />Method:<br /><br />1. Take rice, yellow lentils in a large bowl, mix well and add water <br /><br />2. Now mix, wash dal and rice with water and let it soak for 15-20 minutes<br /><br />3. Now for tempering, Keep the cooker on the gas, start it and add ghee, cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, whole black peppers, ginger, garlic.<br /><br />4. Now, add onions and Saute it well (Don't let onions turn red)<br /><br />5. Add tomatoes, mix it and then add salt, turmeric powder<br /><br />6. Now, Take the Soaked Dal & Rice, put it in the cooker and mix it with the tempering<br /><br />7. Add 4 cups of water in the cooker <br /><br />8. Close the lid of the cooker, keep it for 2-3 whistles and then cook it for around 5 minutes on a low flame.<br /><br />9. Now, beat it with a wood beater, then add grated carrot, coriander leaves on top and mix it<br />
